PIDS Perspectives: A Multi-disciplinary Discourse on Proximity Tracing

Online Event on 23 July 2020, 13:00h - 18:00h

Digital approaches to proximity tracing on Smartphones are expected to contribute significantly to master the Covid-19 pandemic. Several approaches went live since May, and a heated discussion on centralised versus decentralised approaches arose.

Beyond technical considerations, like their underlying working principle, constraints due to dependencies on the underlying hardware and software, also legal, social, economic, and psychological aspects are crucial to the success of proximity tracing in practice.

The first edition of the newly created event series “PIDS Perspectives” will discuss the various aspects of proximity tracing from multiple scientific perspectives. Individual contributions from different fields and countries will provide new insights, and a final discussion will try to map the investigated issues into a consistent perspective.
